staffing

At PASSPORT TO PLAY we recognise the importance of highly qualified staff.

PASSPORT TO PLAY is staffed with full and some part time workers. All staff have gained NNEB, BTEC or NVQ 3 qualifications.

The Manager and Deputy Manager are both supernumery.

 

staffing ratios

Ratios are constantly checked and maintained throughout the day.
We have agency nursery nurses available to cover staff sick leave and holidays.

We accommodate students who are training in this field of work from college and also NVQ 2 students, who assist in helping the staff in each age group.
Students are not included in our ratios.

 

0 – 2 years    1 adult: 3 children
2 – 3 years    1 adult: 4 children
3 – 5 years    1 adult: 8 children


keeping parents informed

At PASSPORT TO PLAY we wish to keep all of our parents/guardians as well informed as possible.

We aim to do this by:-

  • talking to the parents on a daily basis
  • we display a menu on the notice board, so at a glance you can see what your child has been eating. (a copy of the menu is given to prospective parents and to each child when they start at passport to play)
  • a daily diary sheet is sent home with each child at the end of each session
  • named pictures are displayed of all the staff who are involved at Passport to Play
  • we produce a newsletter at  four monthly intervals, giving you news of what’s going on at PASSPORT TO PLAY
  • annual parent evenings are held. This gives parents an opportunity to meet with their child’s key worker and discuss their child’s progress.
  • at regular intervals we send out parent questionnaires. We also send these with a S.A.E to prospective parents.

At PASSPORT TO PLAY, we believe that children should be encouraged to respect their environment and other people.
All staff at PASSPORT TO PLAY adopt a consistent, positive approach to behaviour management.
Clear boundaries are set out so that children become familiar with what behaviours are acceptable.

 

Behaviour that is encouraged:-

  • kindness to others
  • respect for staff
  • respect for children
  • respect for equipment

 

Behaviour that is discouraged:-

  • hitting or biting
  • bullying
  • swearing or fighting
  • wilful damage to Passport to Play property

 

On a regular day to day basis, we ensure children receive regular reinforcement of appropriate behaviour through praise and rewards.
